Great participation in the VIII Guíxols Cup, which on the weekend of November 25 and 26 brought together 142 sailors of the Optimist modality at the Club Nàutic Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The regatta is N2 and has been scoring for the Catalan championship. The winner of the competition has been Iker Múgica, the Club Náutico Cambrils. He was followed in second place on the podium by his teammate Joan Domingo and Lluc Garcés from the Grup Esports Nàutics de Roses in third position. The weather this weekend has been complicated, especially on Saturday when a strong northerly wind with enough waves and southerly current only allowed one of the two groups to compete and compete in a single event. On Sunday, each of the two groups conducted three tests respectively. The awards ceremony took place this Sunday afternoon and was in charge of Jordi Parés, as a member of the board of the Catalan Sailing Federation and as treasurer of the Sant Feliu de Guíxols Yacht Club, and Albert Garcia as secretary of the Optimist class.
Closing of the 8th edition
This weekend’s regatta marks the end of the 8th edition of the Guíxols Cup, which began in January and February with the Europa and 420 and Laser classes. The Sant Feliu Yacht Club values positively the fact of hosting a regatta with so many athletes, which allows us to fulfill the commitment to promote the sport of sailing and, at the same time, publicize the city of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
