Sant Feliu de Guíxols

Sant Feliu de Guíxols is an Empordà city located in the heart of the Costa Brava, which, thanks to its mild climate, is surrounded by a landscape full of contrasts. Highlights include its coastline of cliffs and small coves and beaches, walks along the beach or the coastal path, and the natural areas that surround it, such as the Gavarres or the Ardenya massif.

The city

The city is an old fishing village that preserves an important historical heritage. Its maximum exponent is the Benedictine monastery and its oldest part, the Romanesque Porta Ferrada. With a broad commercial and gastronomic offer and activity all year round, Sant Feliu de Guíxols is undoubtedly a cosy town to explore.

During your stay in the port, we recommend you visit or experience some of its charms, such as:

The Costa Brava

The Costa Brava is composed of a wide variety of intimate coves, hidden between the cliffs and surrounded by vegetation, accessible by sea or through coastal paths that follow the coast line. This Catalan coastal strip develops along the 214 kilometers that extend from the municipality of Blanes, in the province of Girona, to the town of Portbou, on the border with France.

Along its coasts and somewhat inland, apart from other natural wonders you will find charming fishing and medieval towns (Peratallada, Pals,…).

The Costa Brava and the interior of Girona offer a wide range of activities and cultural visits: Paleolithic and Neolithic sites, remains of Iberian populations, medieval towns in excellent conservation, Gothic constructions, museums, crafts, … We invite you to explore some:

The Costa Brava is a main reference in terms of golf tourism at an international level.

The territory has excellent facilities for the practice of this sport, in addition to several hotels and services next to the fields to offer a luxury experience to visitors. Very close to the Yacht Club of Sant Feliu de Guíxols and just half an hour away, there are several golf courses of ten.

Best known

Among the best known are the Aro-Mas Nou Golf Club (Platja d’Aro), the Costa Brava Golf Club (Santa Cristina d’Aro), the Golf Platja de Pals (Pals) and the Golf Girona (Girona). Beyond the Girona region, 100 kilometers from Sant Feliu de Guíxols, is the Barcelona Golf Club.

Gastronomy is also an important part of the cultural heritage of the Empordà, as well as its winemaking tradition, which goes back to the Roman times and has its own designation of origin “Empordà”.

Enjoy the gastronomic offer

We invite you to enjoy the gastronomic offer of the club, or visit one of the restaurants with local or author’s cuisine of the area – some are world renowned.

To get to know our wine culture in depth, you can take the DO Empordà wine route, sign up for a tasting or participate in an enogastronomic experience.

The municipality of Sant Feliu de Guíxols and the surrounding towns offer a varied commercial offer for all tastes and needs:

Bike routes

The “greenways” are one of the great attractions of Sant Feliu de Guíxols for lovers of sport and cycling. The city is the end point of the Carrilet Route, which covers 39.7 kilometers and links with Girona by following the old railway track.

With winding lines and the combination of nature and urban sections, the route allows you to enjoy such extraordinary elements as the Pyrenees, Montseny, Ridaura, Gavarres or the coast of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

The Carrilet II Route Girona – Sant Feliu de Guíxols

The Carrilet Route has a route of 39.7 km, with a gentle slope from Girona to Sant Feliu de Guíxols (15 m), and reaches the highest point in Cassà de la Selva (136 m). Following the route of the old narrow track train Girona-Sant Feliu, it allows you to know two regions – Gironès and Baix Empordà – from the Ter basin to the Ridaura valley, passing through the Depression of La Selva. Kilometers 39,7 km Accessible route Slope 0,5% Minimum Difficulty Pavement Sauló compacted Maximum altitude 136 (Cassà de la Selva) Minimum altitude 0 m (Sant Feliu de Guíxols) Services WC stations / Mountain Bike Centers of Quart and Castell d’Aro

For hiking enthusiasts, we are very close to les Gavarres Natural Park, where numerous signposted trails await you to enjoy the local flora and fauna.

If you prefer sea views, we have the “camins de ronda” – a coastal path that runs between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and S’Agaró (with access from the port) and several others along the Costa Brava, just a few kilometers away. The coastal paths will show you the green of the pine trees, the blue of the sea and the yellow of the beaches of the coves that you will find along the way. Here are some proposals:
