For the first time, Ports de Catalunya-ACPET presents an innovative guide for sailors,ECONàutic.cat-Recreational navigation’, which promotes good practices for environmentally sustainable navigation that is respectful of other users and the environment. ‘ECONàutic.cat-Recreational sailing’ is a guide made up of 23 sheets in which advice is given on responsible behaviour when sailors are inside the port and when they sail on the open sea.
It is a guide with a close language in the first person with attractive illustrations to facilitate reading and assimilation of concepts.
The guide ‘ECONàutic.cat-Recreational navigation’ is a unique and captivating material that provides useful information and is an essential tool for any sailor who wants to reduce their environmental impact.
This guide is accompanied by a communication strategy through social networks, media and sectoral presentations.
Ports of Catalonia-ACPET has made a firm commitment to promote sustainable and respectful navigation over the next 4 years, so that the messages of sustainability and respect penetrate among sea users and are an example of environmental responsibility. “This initiative, launched on July 31, marks a before and after in environmental awareness and the promotion of navigation respectful of the nautical sector in Catalonia.”

SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY OF BOATING

From the world of navigation, Ports de Catalunya-ACPET, are aware of the social and environmental responsibility that sailing has.
For this reason, they have set themselves the objective of minimizing their impacts and contributing to responsible navigation, raising awareness among users of the contribution to the conservation of the marine environment.

KNOWING TO LOVE, LOVING TO PRESERVE

This guide is preceded by a whole trajectory of promoting good environmental practices by ports, constantly implementing countless environmental improvement measures in port infrastructures for some time now.
In 2023, as a pilot test, the first ECONàutic.cat guide was developed aimed at promoting sea culture and complementary environmental content among practitioners of nautical sports activities, such as sailing, sea kayaking or paddle surfing.
Water sports practitioners are one of the gateways to the world of boating and that is why these users were initially targeted.
This year, having already achieved the initial objectives, a guide is presented aimed at sailors and with the aim of providing instructions for sailing in harmony with the environment.
ECONàutic.cat aims to become the basis for the promotion of sustainable and responsible navigation, influencing all sea users, respectful navigation emerges as an imperative for the nautical world.
In a context framed by the climate crisis and the degraded preservation of our fragile environment.

Respectful browsing brings a number of tangible benefits for everyone.

PORTS OF CATALONIA-ACPET

Ports de Catalunya-ACPET is a private non-profit organisation established in 1983, made up of 47 concessionaires of ports and sports docks in Catalonia, which seek to unify and improve the quality of the provision of services to all Catalan marinas.
It works for the sustainability of recreational nautical activity and its accounting for the protection of the natural environment.
It currently has 47 associated ports out of the 53 existing in Catalonia, which represents 90% of the port concessions granted, also including those under the supervision of the State and acts as an interlocutor with the different Administrations.
