The Club Nàutic Sant Feliu de Guíxols has organized this weekend the second phase of the IX Guíxols Cup with the Europa and 420 classes. 22 sailors competed in the first class and 16 in the second.
Ramon Figueras from Club Nàutic Costa Brava and Club Vela Palamós has won gold in Europe. She was followed on the podium by Emma Cabré from Club Náutico El Masnou and Emma Collins from CNCB &CV Palamós.
In 420 the pair formed by Pau Llibre and Alberto Marsans of the Club Náutico El Balís prevailed. Pedro Sotomayor and Pol Carrión from Club Náutico El Masnou were in second position and Joan Hadzi and Quim Serra from CN El Balís took bronze.
Course of the regatta
The garbí wind so characteristic of Sant Feliu de Guíxols has allowed a total of 6 tests to be held for each class. On Saturday, with 14 knots, 4 races of 420 and 3 of Europe were played. On Sunday, with 10-12 knots, 2 classes of 420 and 3 of Europe were held.
The awards ceremony was held this Sunday and was in charge of Jesús Tello, secretary of the Europe class, Mireia Borrego, Councilor for Sports of Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Pere Rimbau, member of the sports commission of the CNSFG.
Adding the first and second phases, about 110 sailors have participated in the IX Guíxols Cup.
History
The Guíxols Cup, which bears the name of the city of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, was born in 2016 at the Club Nàutic Sant Feliu de Guíxols with the support of the Catalan Sailing Federation and the City Council of Sant Feliu de Guíxols with the aim of organizing a regatta that would pay tribute to the passion for the sport of sailing that exists in the municipality. Make the town known to sailors and families and generate a positive economic impact.
The Guíxols Cup 2024 is sponsored by Escola Nàutica Mediñà, Fast Mast, Imnasa and Helena Jornet Finques and has the support of the Catalan Sailing Federation, the Diputació de Girona and the City Council of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
