The Blue Flag has been hoisted on the large beach of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, which once again obtained this beach and that of Sant Pol.

This distinction is awarded by the European Foundation for Environmental Education to all beaches that meet a series of environmental conditions of management of their bathing area. The Councilor for Beaches and Natural Environment, Marifé Larragay, is “very proud” to receive this distinction again, which “rewards these well-managed spaces in aspects such as environmental information and education, water quality, environmental management and safety and services”.

This year’s news

This year, new access railings have been installed on the beach for which people with reduced mobility have priority. The cleaning of the water with a boat has also been launched, as well as the installation of 10 ecological anchors in The Beach of Sant Pol to protect the Cymodocea, among other actions.

New snorkeling itineraries have been created to discover the species of our coast and the installation of 3 new buoys for dives. In addition, people who wish to smoke on both beaches, which have a smoking sector and another for non-smokers, can find a reusable ashtray.
