The Sant Feliu de Guíxols Yacht Club has hosted on the weekend of October 1st and 2nd the 51GuíxolsMedes, the oldest uninterruptedly organized regatta in Catalonia that has had 17 boats participating in the Solitaire, A Dos and Altura classes.

Solitaires, with two participating boats, has won the boat XPRESS of the Arenys de Mar Yacht Club. In Class A Two, with five participating boats, the victory was for the ship SMERIT. At Altura, with ten participating boats, the gold went to the ENJOLIT of the Club Nàutic Costa Brava – Club Vela Palamós.

There have been three boats that have not finished the competition.

Weather conditions

The difficult weather situation delayed the start of the regatta and led to a change of route, which was finally successfully shortened. The sailors left Sant Feliu de Guíxols, went to the Boia Odas and returned around midnight from Saturday to Sunday in the ganxó port.

The presentation of the traditional silver awards took place this Sunday with representatives of the Sant Feliu de Guíxols Yacht Club, the Catalan Sailing Federation and the City Council of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

The race

The Guíxols Medes, which bears the name of the city that hosts it, is an ORC Cruiser regatta that scores for the Catalan Solitaire, A2 and Height (Crew) Championships that traditionally travel 75 nautical miles.

It has the support of the Diputació de Girona, the Federació Catalana de Vela, the Associació de Regatistes d’Altura del Mediterrani and the Ajuntament de Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
